GNAC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors: April 25, 2011
Jimmy McAllister (Mount Ida), Max Smith (Emerson) and Tyler Woods (Norwich) have earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tyler Woods, Norwich, Sr., Essex Jct, VT
Norwich’s senior attacker, Tyler Woods, helped lead the Cadets to a 2-0 week concluding their regular season schedule. Woods netted four goals and an assist in the victory against Daniel Webster. He also earned an assist and scooped up three ground balls in the upset win over the Monks of St. Joseph's (Maine).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Max Smith, Emerson, Fr., Gillette, NJ
Emerson’s rookie attacker, Max Smith, topped off an incredible week with a 10 point effort (six goals, four assists) against Daniel Webster, which helped carry the Lions to the final playoff spot in the GNAC Tournament. He also added a goal and an assist against St. Joseph's College; while tallying four ground balls and winning seven face-offs on the week.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Jimmy McAllister, Mount Ida, Jr., Smithfield, RI
Mount Ida junior goaltender, James McAllister, led the Mustangs to a first place standing in the GNAC Playoffs, after securing a conference victory over Lasell on Wednesday. McAllister denied shot after shot from the Lasers, tallying a career-high 26 saves including countless point blank attempts by Lasell. He played every minute this week leading the Mustangs to a 3-0 week. This marks the second time this season that McAllister has earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
