First Team All-Conference

Player of the Year- Lamonte Thomas, Johnson & Wales, (Providence, RI)
Guard

Lamonte Thomas, the GNAC 2010-2011 Player of the Year, leads all of NCAA Division III in scoring at 29.8 points per game. The junior guard has shattered several GNAC records including 162 free throws made in over 200 attempts in a single season and a career record of 379 free throws for 486 attempts. Thomas ranks in the top-10 in nearly every GNAC statistical category and is currently first in scoring (29.8) and second in assists (5.6). A three-time GNAC Player of the Week, Thomas has scored 30 or more points in nine games.

 

 

Ray Askew, Albertus Magnus, Jr., (New Haven, CT)
Forward

Ray Askew of Albertus Magnus College is ranked within the top in several statistical categories within the GNAC and throughout the Nation. The powerful and versatile forward is second in rebounds per game within the GNAC, leading the offensive rebound category. His defensive rebounds have led him to a 13th national ranking in conjunction with a 13th national ranking in scoring and 5th in double-doubles (16). Askew is a two-time GNAC Player of the week this season as well as the ECAC Co-Player of the week.  

 

Javon Williams, Lasell, Jr., (Mattapan, MA)
Forward

Javon Williams of Lasell College has accumulated numerous honors throughout the 2010-2011 season. In this season alone the junior forward has been named as a two-time D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week honoree, ECAC DIII New England Player of the Week and GNAC Player of the Week. Williams has had 24 games in double-figures, eight double-doubles, seven games with over 30 points, and a remarkable two games with over 40 points. He ranks second in the GNAC for points per game (23.8) and 12th in NCAA DIII. Williams also broke Lasell’s school record for steals in a season.

 

 

 

Zach O’Brien, St. Joseph Maine, Jr., (Schenectady, ME)
Guard/Forward

Zach O’Brien leads the GNAC top seeded St. Joe’s in nearly every statistical category including points, assists, rebounds and steals. O’Brien reached the 1,000 point milestone this season and only the 12th player to do so in their junior year in St. Joseph’s school history. The junior forward ranks 3rd in the GNAC for free throw percentage and assist/turnover ratio, 4th in assists and 8th in scoring. Another accomplishment that O’Brien has earned this season was being named the Maine player of the week.

 

 

 

Matt Pepdjonovic, Suffolk, So., (Quincy, MA)
Center

Matt Pepdjonovic is the Nation’s 4th leading rebounder and tops the GNAC in rebounds as well. The sophomore recorded 16 double-doubles this season, which led him to be ranked 10th in NCAA. The Quincy, MA native has added another accomplishment to his young career by recording at least 20 points and 20 rebounds in three games this season.   

 

 

 

 

Defensive Player of the Year- Don Poitras, Rivier, Sr., (Bow, NH)

Center                       

Don Poitras of Rivier College has been named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and also earned a spot on the second team all-conference for the 2010-2011 season. The senior center ranks first in the conference for blocks and ranks 8th in the NCAA with 3.0 per game. Poitras also ranks second in the GNAC for field goal percentage at 57.3. He has been honored this season with a GNAC Player of the Week award and also named the MVP of the Colby and Rivier Basketball Tournaments.

 

 

 

Rookie of the Year- Darius Watson, Albertus, Fr.,

Forward

Darius Watson has been named as the GNAC Rookie of the Year for his incredible freshman season as a huge factor in the Falcons success. The 6’5’’ forward with a three point threat created difficult problems for opponents of Albertus. Watson is ranked 9th in the GNAC for three point percentage and was a two-time GNAC Rookie of the Week selection.
