GNAC Baseball Weekly Honors: March 14, 2011

Eric Howard (Lasell), Teddy Katz (JWU) and Alex Pezzuto (JWU) have earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s Baseball Weekly Honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Teddy Katz, Johnson & Wales, Sr., Pittsburgh, PA

JWU senior, Teddy Katz led the Wildcats in hitting during their annual southern trip. Katz hit .458 with four runs and three RBI including four multi-hit games. Katz best game was a 3-for-4 performance in the season opener against Christopher Newport.

JWU rookie, Alex Pezzuto managed to come out strong in his collegiate debut against Christopher Newport, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Pezzuto totaled a .455 batting average with three RBIs on the week.

Eric Howard, Lasell, Fr., Newton, MA

Lasell pitcher, Eric Howard, made his first collegiate appearance on Saturday against NYU Polytechnic in Lasell's first win of the season. The rookie pitcher struck out five in only two innings, allowing two hits and one unearned run. In the Lasers’ game against Nichols College, he struck out two, allowed five hits and two unearned runs, earning his first win of the season. Howard currently has a 0.00 ERA.
