GNAC Rookies of the Week: December 1

Keith Jones (Men’s Basketball, Mount Ida) and Hayley Torres (Women’s Basketball, St. Joseph's-CT.) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookies of the Week.

Men’s Basketball- Keith Jones, Mount Ida College, So., South Boston, Mass.
Sophomore Keith Jones led the Mustangs to a second place finish at UMass- Boston’s 25th Annual Harbor Invitational. In the first round, Jones scored a game high 28 points in an 86-60 victory over UMass-Boston. Yet, the Mustangs fell to Embry-Riddle University in the Championship game, where the South Boston native netted 24 points in an outstanding game, and was selected to the All-Tournament Team. With a total of 52 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists this week alone, Jones leads the Mustangs in scoring with 72 points overall.

Women’s Basketball- Hayley Torres, St. Joseph’s Conn., Fr., Hamden, Conn.
This week Freshman Hayley Torres had her third double-double in six games, all coming off the bench, including a career-high 19 points and 11 rebounds against Daniel Webster. Torres shot 13-22 from the field, and averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 steals in only two games. Overall this week, she had an outstanding performance scoring 30 points and 20 rebounds.
