GNAC Players of the Week: September 22
Maria DeRosa (Womens Cross Country, Rivier), Dan Hatch (Mens Soccer, Lasell), Maile Macleod (Womens Tennis, Simmons), Kate McKenna (Womens Soccer, Emmanuel), Greg Redfield (Mens Cross Country, Johnson & Wales), Erica Spanbauer (Mens Golf, Emmanuel) and Rebecca Stanton (Womens Volleyball, Emmanuel) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Players of the Week. Julian Dutton (Mens Soccer, Lasell), Rachel Elliott (Womens Soccer, Simmons) and Katye Mayo (Womens Soccer, St. Josephs Maine) were named Goalkeepers of the Week.
Maria DeRosa (Women’s Cross Country, Rivier), Dan Hatch
(Men’s Soccer, Lasell), Maile Macleod (Women’s Tennis,
Simmons), Kate McKenna (Women’s Soccer, Emmanuel), Greg
Redfield (Men’s Cross Country, Johnson & Wales), Erica
Spanbauer (Men’s Golf, Emmanuel) and Rebecca Stanton
(Women’s Volleyball, Emmanuel) have been named Great
Northeast Athletic Conference Players of the Week. Julian Dutton
(Men’s Soccer, Lasell), Rachel Elliott (Women’s Soccer,
Simmons) and Katye Mayo (Women’s Soccer, St. Joseph’s
– Maine) were named Goalkeepers of the Week.
Men’s Cross Country – Greg Redfield, Johnson
& Wales, Fr., Penfield, N.Y.
Continued his impressive rookie campaign, running a time of 25:21
over the five mile course at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on
Saturday. Redfield finished 15th individually and helped the
Wildcats to a 14th place finish at the 37 team event.
Women’s Cross Country – Maria DeRosa, Rivier,
Sr., Peabody, Mass.
Finished in 10th place, with a time of 24:59 at the Daniel Webster
Invitational - Maria ran her usual consistent race with a strong
finish to stay in the top 10.
Men’s Soccer – Dan Hatch, Lasell, Jr., Avon,
Mass.
Hatch scored 8 points over the course of a three game week,
scoring two goals in a non-conference contest with Lyndon State and
two goals against Emerson College in GNAC competition. Lasell went
2-0-1 this week due in large part to Hatch's efforts.
Women’s Soccer –
Kate McKenna, Emmanuel, Sr., Holyoke, Mass.
Senior midfielder and team captain Kate McKenna led Emmanuel to a
1-1-1 week with 10 points, scoring 4 goals and dishing out 2
assists in her 3 games played. McKenna scored 2 goals in a 3-1 win
over JWU and another 2 goals in Emmanuel's 3-3 tie with Lasell. She
also assisted in the Saints' only goal in a 3-1 loss to Babson.
Women’s Tennis – Maile Macleod, Simmons, Jr.,
Carlsbad, Calif.
Maile had a week to remember for the Sharks. She followed up a
doubles win vs. Pine Manor with an upset over Colby's #1 player at
the ITA regional. It was Simmons first ever main draw win in the
event. She ended the week by picking up singles and doubles wins
from the top position against St. Joseph (Conn.).
Women’s Volleyball – Rebecca Stanton,
Emmanuel, So., Quincy, Mass.
The sophomore middle hitter led Emmanuel to a 3-1 week, averaging
3.19 kills per set and 1.44 blocks per set in her 16 games played
this week. Stanton's 15 kills and .312 hitting led the Saints to a
3-2 win over Rivier on Saturday. She then hit .483 with 16 kills to
pace the Saints to a 3-1 win over Mount Ida.
Men’s Golf – Eric Spanbauer, Emmanuel, So.
Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Emmanuel's sophomore captain Eric Spanbauer led the Saints in
Emmanuel's first-ever men's golf match. Spanbauer shot a 92 in the
Elms College Invitational on Tuesday and finished as the top scorer
for Emmanuel.
Men’s Soccer – Julian Dutton, Lasell, Sr.,
Madison, Conn.
Dutton collected 20 total saves this week in net for the Lasers,
helping Lasell to a 2-0-1 week. Dutton had 11 saves in net against
Suffolk in a 1-1 tie, following that with five saves in a win over
Emerson. Earlier in the week, Dutton saved four total shots on goal
against Lyndon State.
Women’s Soccer – Rachel Elliott, Simmons, Sr.,
Amherst, N.H.
Rachel Elliott earned two shutouts this week, denying both Suffolk
and Mount Ida. Elliott faced 13 shots, 6 shots on goal, and
recorded 5 saves.
Women’s Soccer – Katye Mayo, St.
Joseph’s (Maine), Sr., Fairfield, Maine
Mayo recorded a pair of shutout victories over Mount Ida and Saint
Joseph (CT) last week.
