Norwich and Suffolk Both Qualify for ECAC Championship
Both the Norwich University and Suffolk University women's basketball teams discovered on Monday that their seasons will continue as they have been selected to participate in the ECAC Tournament. The ECAC Tournament consists of eight teams who had outstanding records, but did not make it to the NCAA Tournament. The GNAC had two teams selected to the ECAC tournament, Norwich (19-7), who finished the season in second place, and Suffolk (14-12) who finished the season in sixth place. Norwich, seeded fifth in the ECAC tournament, will travel to Worcester, Mass. to face fourth-seeded WPI (19-9) in a quarterfinal contest on Wednesday evening at 7:00pm. Eighth seeded Suffolk University will travel to Keene State to take on the top seeded Owls (17-9) Wednesday evening at 7:00pm in Keene, NH.
The winners of the first-round will advance to the semifinals, which will take place on Saturday, March 6th at the highest remaining seed. If both Suffolk and Norwich win their first round they will face each other in a semifinal match-up.
The semifinal winners will meet on Sunday afternoon for the championship at the highest remaining seed.
