Johnson & Wales Men & Norwich Women Capture the 2007-2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Commissioner's Cup

JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY
The Johnson & Wales men’s teams finished their 2007-2008 campaign for the GNAC Commissioner’s Cup with a conference tournament victory in men’s tennis to help cushion their lead and win the 2007-2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Commissioner’s Cup.

Joining the men’s tennis team in earning a championship victory, and five points, was the men’s soccer team and men’s golf team.

The men’s volleyball, baseball, and men’s cross country teams all placed in the top four for their respective sports and earned 3 points each. While the basketball team added another two points.

JWU was the only school to earn points from all of their men’s teams.

NORWICH UNIVERSITY
Spearheaded by the women's lacrosse team's conference championship, and the women's cross country team's runner-up showing at the league meet last fall, Norwich University won the 2007-08 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Commissioner's Cup.

The Cadets accrued 20 points, and just edged Emerson, Emmanuel and St. Joseph's (Maine) (19 points apiece) for the women's crown. NU earned five points for winning the conference's inaugural women's lacrosse championship game last month, defeating Emerson, 10-8, in the title game.

NU picked up another four markers for placing runner-up at the women's cross country championships in the fall.

Norwich's women's basketball and women's soccer teams contributed three points apiece for their Top 4 finishes, while the volleyball and swimming and diving squads each added two points each for making the league playoffs.
