GNAC Cross Country Report: Week 2

(FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 3-9)

MEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Ryan Dalaba, Lasell (Sr., North Granville, N.Y.) 

Dalaba finished in 15th place among 63 runners in the 8K race, crossing the finish line in 29 minutes, seven seconds at the UNE Invitational.

WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Mia Tompkins, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Sr. -Meriden, Conn.) 

Tompkins picked up right where she left off from the 2017 cross country season and led the Blue Jays at the Trinity College Bantam XC Invitational on Saturday. The veteran paced USJ and posted a 9th place finish out of 63 runners with a finishing 5K time of 20:31.3 on an average 6:37 mile pace.

MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Troy Hendricks, Saint Joseph's College (ME) (Fr. - Hiram, Maine)

Hendricks led Saint Joseph's with a 28:04 performance and placed seventh overall in the 8K UNE Invitational on Saturday.

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Hannah Fitzpatrick, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Fr. - Revere, Mass.) 

Fitzpatrick enjoyed a strong collegiate debut at the Endicott Invitational with a 5th place finish. The freshman crossed the finish line in the 5k race with a time of 20:20 as the top Emmanuel finisher.


WEEK 2 HONOR ROLL

Erik Brobst, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr., Freeport, Maine) - Brobst helped power the Saints team to a second place team finish at the Endicott Invitational with a second place individual finish in the 8k race with a time of 29:15, just 15 seconds off the winning pace.
 
Amanda Hawkes, Lasell (So., Billerica, Mass.) - Hawkes finished the women's 5K race in 32nd place among 80 runners at the UNE Invitational, 22nd among scorers, in a time of 22 minutes, 38 seconds. 
 
Eric Knox, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., Bristol, Conn.) - Knox placed 32nd out of 60 runners after finishing the 5K race with a time of 19:29.1 to set the new men's 5K school standard in the inaugural men's cross country meet at the Trinity College Bantam XC Invitational on Saturday.
 
Sarah Curtin, Saint Joseph's College (ME) (Sr., Strafford, N.H.) - Curtin paced the Monks and placed seventh overall with a 20:44 time in the 5K UNE Invitational on Saturday. 
 
Alice Najimy, Simmons University (First Year, Pittsfield, Mass.) - The first year made her collegiate debut by finishing sixth at the six-kilometer Worcester City Meet at Moore State Park in Paxton, Mass. The rookie averaged a 4:16 kilometer time as part of a final mark of 25:33 to lead Simmons.
