GNAC Tournament gets
underway Tuesday night
WINTHROP, Mass. – The GNAC office is pleased to announce the seeds and matchups for the 2019 Women's Volleyball Tournament, as the regular season concluded on Saturday afternoon. Four-time defending GNAC champion and No. 23 nationally-ranked Johnson & Wales University (RI) has once again cruised through the campaign with an unblemished league mark of 12-0 to cement the top seed.
Also hosting GNAC Quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, November 5 will be second-seeded Simmons University, third-seeded and longtime GNAC powerhouse Rivier University, and fourth-seeded Suffolk University, which experienced its most winningest season in program history this fall.
JWU will host eighth-seeded Lasell University at 7:30 PM, while Suffolk welcomes fifth-seeded Colby-Sawyer College at 7:00 PM. The winners of each match will square off Thursday night in the GNAC Tournament Semifinals.
In other action on Tuesday evening, seventh-seeded Saint Joseph's College of Maine will travel to Simmons for a 7:00 PM start, and Riv will host sixth-seeded Norwich University, also at 7:00 PM. The winners of the 2/7 and 3/6 contests will also go head-to-head in the GNAC Semis on Thursday.
The highest remaining seed will host the GNAC Championship match on Saturday, Nov. 9 with an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament on the line.
