Brunswick, Maine - In the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Division III men's tennis tournament, the Roadrunners fell to Yeshiva University, 5-0 in a match-up held at Bowdoin College in Maine.
The Roadrunners fell behind, 3-0 after doubles play as Willen Feygin and Adam Patrovics fell 7-9 in a hard fought doubles match-up at first doubles. Second doubles was close again as Mike Abelev and Kevin Ilinets teamed up. The duo fell 6-8 to Mikey Ozery and Dor Gutterman. Brendan Hines and Justin Rinaldi made up the third Ramapo team falling short, 1-8. The three doubles pairings finished in reverse order with third doubles finishing their match-up first.
In singles action, Hines, at fifth singles, would complete his match-up first falling 0-6, 1-6 to put the Maccabees ahead, 4-0. The overall match was clinched by decision with a win for Yeshiva at sixth singles. Avidan Rudansky defeated Rinaldi, 6-1, 6-4.
At the time of decision, Feygin was leading at first singles, 6-2, 4-1 and Patrovics was behind 5-7 at second singles. Abelev was leading Gutterman at third singles, 6-1, 2-2 and at fourth singles, Charlie Friedman won the first set, 6-3 and Ilinets was leading in the second set, 1-2.
Ramapo finishes the season standing at 11-7 overall.
