GNAC Men's Lacrosse Report: Week 5



Brandon Pavoni, Anna Maria (Jr., A - Grandby, Mass.)

Pavoni led the AMCATS to their third victory of the season and their first conference win with his six-goal, three-assist performance versus Johnson & Wales. Pavoni has cemented his role as the leading scorer and biggest threat when on the field for Anna Maria. 


Logan Skinner, St. Joseph's (Me.) (So., GK - Irving, Texas)

Skinner posted a 4.00 goals-against average with a 65.2% save percentage in two SJC wins last week. The sophomore keeper turned away six shots versus Rivier on Wednesday and posted nine stops in a victory over Regis on Saturday.


Tyler Rose, Lasell (Fr., D - Springfield, Mass.)

Rose anchored a Lasell defense that kept both opponents to single-digit scoring in a 2-0 week for Lasell, while setting a program record for caused turnovers in a game. He recorded three caused turnovers and two ground balls in a 10-8 non-conference victory over UMass Boston, and he posted a school-record seven caused turnovers and seven ground balls in an 18-7 GNAC win over Rivier.

James May, Albertus Magnus (Sr., A - Branford, Conn.) - May led the offensive attack with eight goals and an assist for nine points in an 0-2 week for the Falcons. In the loss to Mitchell, May scored six of the Falcons' seven goals as well as tallied an assist for seven points and finished the week with a two-goal performance in the GNAC loss to Norwich. 

Matt Katon, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, A - East Falmouth, Mass.) - Katon led Emmanuel with 12 points on the week with eight goals and four assists. The senior put together duplicate games against Regis and JWU, scoring four goals while dishing out two assist in each GNAC affair. He added five groundballs and three caused turnovers on the week for Emmanuel.

Matt Gelb, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., M - Huntington, NY) - Averaged 6.5 points in a 1-1 week for JWU... 13 point week for the Sophomore including seven assists versus Emmanuel for Wildcat's first conference victory... Picked up a goal and six assists versus Anna Maria earlier in the week

Ryan Madden, Lasell (Sr., M - Hingham, Mass.) - Registered eight points on six goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Lasers. He tallied two goals and one assist in a non-conference win over UMass Boston, and he notched four goals and one assist in a GNAC triumph over Rivier. He scored both of his goals against UMB in the third quarter as Lasell rallied from a 6-1 halftime deficit to take an 8-6 lead, and he assisted on the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter. He scored twice in the first quarter in the win over Rivier as Lasell scored the first eight goals of the game and never relinquished the lead.

Joseph Santangelo, Norwich (Sr., M - Fallston, Md.) - Picked up a goal and two assists in Norwich's 19-4 victory over Albertus Magnus. Also went 10-11 mark on faceoffs and scooped up four ground balls. Santangelo has only lost five faceoffs in the last three games, putting a blistering 89% (40-45) mark.

Michael Finn, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Senior, A - Quincy, Mass.) - Finn netted nine goals with two assists for 11 total points in a pair of conference victories last week. The senior attack scored six goals and became the Monks' all-time points leader in a convincing win over Regis College on Saturday.
