GNAC Announces New 2019-20 NCAA Division III RAC Appointments

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GNAC RAC REPRESENTATIVES

WINTHROP, Mass. – Six head coaches from Great Northeast Athletic Conference institutions have been appointed to new NCAA Division III Regional Advisory Committees (RAC), as announced by longtime GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh

The new appointments are Emmanuel College softball head coach/Assistant Sports Information Director Olivia BerryJohnson & Wales University (RI) women's basketball head coach Kim Dweck; JWU women's volleyball head coach/Assistant AD/SWA Nancy Somera; University of Saint Joseph (CT) men's soccer head coach Paul Wright; Saint Joseph's College of Maine women's soccer head coach/Athletics Dept. Operations Coordinator Jenelle Harris; and Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis head coach/International Student-Athlete Support Coordinator Cristian Popa

Each coach/administrator is beginning a three-year term this academic year, with the respective terms expiring in 2022.

"On behalf of the GNAC, I have every confidence that the experience and dedication of these individuals will make them valuable additions to their respective sport committees," said Walsh.

For Regional Advisory Committees, conferences must appoint individuals to an advisory committee to assist in the evaluation of teams during the selection of championship participants. The committees do not have the authority to select teams and/or individuals; they strictly act in an advisory capacity. The final authority for selections rests with the national governing sports committee.

Members of the governing sports committees shall serve as chairs of the regional advisory committees. As a standard practice, the committee chair conducts telephone conference calls with all of its RAC members to evaluate the potential participants and regional sites within the region. Each conference sponsoring the respective sport (with seven or more members) must have equal representation. RAC members also can serve as NCAA site representatives at preliminary-round competitions as needed.

In all, 14 coaches and/or administrators across the GNAC currently serve on an NCAA Division III RACs. For the complete list of positions within the conference, please see below or click the link above.
