GNAC Weekly Honors for February 9, 2009.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

Sarah Wheeler     Saint Joseph (CT)     So     Winchendon Springs, MA
Wheeler set a pool-record in the 400-IM while hitting the New England A standard with a time of 5:07.66 in one of her three victories over Elms on Saturday. Wheeler was also first in the 100 fly (1:04.96) and 200-free (2:11.90) hitting the A standard in all three events. She was also on the winning 200 Medley relay team.

Lindsay D'Ascanio     Saint Joseph's (ME)     SO     Kennebunk, ME
In the first meet ever hosted by Saint Joseph's (ME) against Husson, D'Ascanio posted victories in the 50-Back (32.12), 100-Back (1:09.29) and 50-Fly (30.88) and swam a leg for the winning 200-Medley relay team. Her time in the 50-Back set a new program record.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Hannah Gajewski     Saint Joseph's (ME)     FR     Biddeford, ME
In the first meet ever hosted by Saint Joseph's (ME) against Husson, Gajewski earned first-place finishes in the 200-IM (2:24.89), 100-Breast (1:17.07) and 100-IM events and swam a leg for the winning 200-Free (1:57.17) relay squad. The freshman bested her own program record in the 200-IM and currently owns nine program records.
