Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Report – Week 2
Player of the Week
Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.), Junior,
Forward, Mount Ida College
Tomaselli enjoyed a stellar 15 point week for the
Mustangs, netting seven goals and an assist to help Mount Ida post
a pair of victories. In GNAC play vs. Anna Maria, the junior
transfer tallied five goals in the 9-1 victory before adding two
goals and an assist in a 7-1 win vs. Bay Path over the weekend.
Rookie of the Week
Sara Barnick (Watertown, Conn.), Freshman,
Midfielder, University of Saint Joseph (CT)
Barnick had four goals, including two game-winners, and
an assist as the Blue Jays went 3-0 on the week. Barnick scored the
first two goals against Bay Path in an 8-0 non-league win, then
added an insurance goal in a 2-0 win over Norwich and finished the
week with the first tally in a 3-0 win over Johnson &
Wales.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Melissa Dodge (Watertown, Conn.), Freshman,
Goalkeeper, University of Saint Joseph (CT)
Dodge was flawless on the week, turning back 16 shots in
255 minutes en route to three shutouts for the Blue Jays. She
made two saves in 75 minutes against Bay Path and then turned in
consecutive, 90-minute, seven-save efforts in wins over GNAC rivals
Norwich and Johnson & Wales.
