Saint Joseph’s (Maine) Edges Out Emmanuel In Preseason Coaches Poll

Boston, Mass. – Saint. Joseph’s College (Maine) edged out the 2007 GNAC champions Emmanuel College by earning 135 points in the women’s soccer preseason poll, while Emmanuel earned 134 points to come in a close second.

St. Joe’s comes off the 2007 season with a program best record of 16-2-3. Top returning players include sophomore Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers, MA), junior Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME) and sophomore Mikayla Call (Portland, ME), all members of the GNAC All-Conference First Team. Second Team All-GNAC returnees include junior Brianna Jordan (Scarborough, ME), sophomore Jessica Needham (E. Bridgewater, MA) and senior Katie Jordan (Sandwich, MA).

Emmanuel College Saints (17-3-2) finished a close second in the preseason polls. The Saints finished the 2007 season as GNAC regular season and tournament champions. Norwich and Emerson picked up third and fourth place votes, respectively.
