Both Suffolk University Mens and Womens Soccer teams earned recognition by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NCSAA)as each team received the NSCAA Academic/Adidas College Team Award for 2008-09. Suffolk is one of only 97 institutions (NCAA Divisions I, II & III) to have both their mens and womens teams named to both lists and is one of two teams from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to do so.
The NCAA Men's Soccer Committee has announced the 2009 DIII Tournament bracket. Fifty-nine teams advance to national tournament play, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday, November 12th. Saint Joseph's College (14-7-1, 7-2 GNAC) will play at Wesleyan University (11-1-4, 6-0-3 NESCAC) in Middletown, CT on Saturday, time TBA.
#1 Saint Joseph's College (14-7-1, 7-2 GNAC) defeated #6 Emerson College (12-8, 5-4 GNAC), 2-1, in the 2009 GNAC Men's Soccer Championship at Westerlea Way Field on Saturday afternoon. Jack LaFreniere '13 (Alton, NH) notched both SJC goals, less than five minutes apart in the second half, to help the Monks capture their first GNAC title. With the win, St. Joe's collects an automatic berth, awarded to the GNAC winner, into the NCAA DIII Tournament, which begins this week. The trip to the NCAA's will be the first in men's soccer program history. NCAA tourney seedings will be announced on Monday morning.

Norwich earned the top spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Preseason Men's Soccer Coaches Poll, the conference office announced on Wednesday. The Cadets captured the 2008 GNAC championship after posting an 18-3-1 overall record and 8-0-1 GNAC record.
