2008 GNAC Golf Championship Day One Results

Cranston, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University golf
team is currently in first place after the first round of the 2008
Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship, hosted at the
Cranston Country Club. The Wildcats have a 13 shot lead after
carding a 307 over the par 71 course. Rhode Island College is
in second place with a 320 while UMass Dartmouth finished with a
321 on the day.
Johnson & Wales senior Robert Newcomb (Quincy, Mass.) is in
first-place with a 74 while senior Zach Bennardo (Norwich, Conn.)
and St. Joseph’s of Maine’s Andy LeConte are tied for
second-place with a 76.
Action for day two will take begin at 11:15 a.m., on Saturday,
October 25th. For the first time in conference history, an
automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship is on the
line.
