GNAC ANNOUNCES 2012 HALL OF FAME CLASS
BOSTON, Mass. – The Great Northeast
Athletic Conference is pleased to announce and welcome three new
members into the GNAC Hall of Fame. The inductees were announced at
the 2012 GNAC Professional Development Seminar and become just the
second class to earn the conference’s highest honor. This
year’s inductees include Ellen Boss of
Emerson College, Annemarie Proto of Johnson &
Wales University and Stacy Manfredi of the
University of Saint Joseph (CT).
Ellen Boss – Emerson College – Soccer,
Softball, Basketball
- Only women’s soccer player in GNAC history named Rookie
of the Year as a first-year (2001) and Player of the Year as a
senior (2004)
- Led GNAC in goals (22) and points (51) her senior year
- Three-time GNAC All-Conference in soccer (2001, 2003, 2004),
two-time GNAC All-Conference in Softball (2004, 2005)
- CoSIDA Academic All-District in Softball and Soccer (first
female student-athlete at Emerson)
Stacy Manfredi – Saint Joseph College CT -
Basketball
- Holds career school records of 1,806 points, 17.9 points per
game and 322 steals
- Holds single-season school records of 640 points and 24.6
scoring average in 1997-98 when she was GNAC Player of the Year and
team won only GNAC title
- The only player at any NCAA level to have two 50-point games in
1997-98 when she scored a school-record 54 and 50 respectively
- All-GNAC first team selection in 1997-98 and second team pick
in 1995-96 and 1996-97.
Annemarie Proto - Johnson & Wales University –
Volleyball
- The GNAC Player of the year in her freshman and senior years
(2001 and 2004)
- Proto led the Wildcats to three conference championships
- Was a four-time first-team All-GNAC selection.
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference is an NCAA Division III
conference made up of 13 institutions with nine associate members.
In 2012-13, the GNAC will sponsor championships in 17 sports for
men and women. The GNAC also enjoys outstanding professional
partnerships with Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine
Division, Doubletree Hotels, Fenway Printers, New Balance, Reading
Trophy and Presto Sports.
