(Newton, MA) The 10th ranked Rivier
College Men's Volleyball team improved to 8-0 in GNAC play with a
convincing three set win over Lasell College this evening by scores
of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-20.
The Raiders used an efficient hitting attack keyed by their
superb defensive effort to pick up the victory. Rivier finished
with a .299 hitting percentage and 39 digs as the Laser only
recorded 18 digs.
Rivier freshman Chris Markuson (Cupertino,
CA) led the offensive attack with 10 kills on the
night, the team leader. Junior setter Steve
Visentin (Cheshire, CT)collected 33 assists directing
a balanced attack that saw six different players finish with at
least four kills. Sophomore Matt Bynon (Burnt
Hills, NY) and seniorAndrew Corwin
(Framingham, MA) tied for the team lead with 8 digs
apiece.
Alex Mill and Matt Dionne accounted for 9 of Lasell's 10 kills,
with 5 and 4 respectively, while Chris Burns had a team high 7
digs.
The Raiders (18-8 overall, 8-0 GNAC) will host GNAC opponents
Albertus Magnus College and Mount Ida College in a tri-match at the
'doon on Saturday, March 31st.
