On Saturday, April 14th, #1 Rivier College Men’s Volleyball will host #2 Emmanuel College at 1pm in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Championship. This will be the third time the Raiders and the Saints will be facing each other this season. The Raiders are coming into this match up with an impressive record of being 25-8 overall, and undefeated in conference play with a 14-0 record. They are currently ranked 12th nationally, and look to defend their GNAC Champion title for the fifth straight time. The Raiders have only lost two sets all season in GNAC play, one of those sets was against Emmanuel College. Rivier College defeated #5 Albertus Magnus College in the semifinals on Thursday to advance to the Championship.
The Saints look to win their first GNAC Championship title, and end the Raiders unbeaten conference record. The Saints also enjoyed a successful season with an overall record of 17-11, and conference record of 12-2. Their two conference loses being against the Raiders. The Saints defeated #3 Johnson & Wales University in intense battles in all three sets. However, the Saints ended up coming away with hard fought 3-0 win. Saturday will certainly be a great battle for the GNAC championship title and the conference's first automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
