BOSTON, Mass. – Another double-double from Olivia Connors coupled with a double-digit point tallies from five additional Lions saw the Emerson Women’s Basketball Team take their second straight win Saturday afternoon as EC topped Albertus Magnus 85-75. The win places the Lions at 4-10 overall and 2-1 in the GNAC while Albertus drops to 8-5 on the year and 1-2 in the conference.
The first half was all Emerson as they absolutely dominated the boards, pulling down 26 in 20 minutes with Olivia Connors nearly hitting double digits in only 20 minutes with her nine total. Olivia DiNucci and Amy Sherman anchored the offense as well with 10 and eight points apiece while EC knocked down five of seven from the free throw line.
For the Falcons the Lions defense stymied Albertus for the most part, though Bianca Brown led the floor with 12 points, though the effort wasn’t enough as Emerson collected a solid 44-22 lead headed in to the break.
The second half saw Brown explode for 24 more points in the 20 allotted minutes of play to cut into the Lions lead but Shannon Norton turned it up a notch in the half for 11 points followed closely by Olivia DiNucci’s nine and Olivia Connors eight. Rebounding made the difference as well for the Lions as the banged the boards for 18 in the half, five for offensive boards.
The Lions will return to their home court this Monday as they face GNAC foe, Pine Manor at noon in Boston at the Emerson Brown-Plofker Gym.
