On October 16th, the Lasell College women’s soccer team will be participating in the “Play 4 the Cure” Day to raise awareness and money for breast cancer. October is the month during which the national spotlight shines on breast cancer awareness to increase knowledge of the importance of early breast cancer detection, to share information on the disease, and provide greater access to screening services..
On that date, the Lasers have a 12:00 p.m. game against
Great Northeast Athletic Conference contenders Albertus Magnus
College during which the women’s soccer team will do their
part by wearing special pink jerseys to promote the cause.
Players will also take time at the game’s intermission to
walk through the crowds with cans to collect donations. In
addition, fans will be given chance to buy the opportunity to take
a penalty kick against the Lasell College goalkeepers an hour and a
half prior to the start of the contest.
Those interested in making a tax-deductible contribution to
the cause may also do so at the game, with checks being made
payable to head coach Vito La Francesca. All proceeds will go
to the Massachusetts General Hospital Breast Cancer department, in
honor of Maria La Francesca.
