Mount Ida Women's Volleyball Headed to ECAC Tournament
The Mount Ida College women's volleyball team has been selected to participate in the 2010 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) post-season tournament starting this Wednesday night at hosting #4 Colby-Sawyer College (19-14, 8-2 TCCC). The Mustangs, who come into the tournament as the fifth seed, will face the number four seed Chargers (Colby-Sawyer) in the first round with game time set for 7:00 p.m.

Also competing in the ECAC post-season tournament Division III New England bracket along with Mount Ida and Colby-Sawyer is number one seeded Endicott College (22 – 15, 9-1 TCCC), #2 Keene State College (24-12, 6-1 LEC), #3 Plymouth State University (18-13, 5-2 LEC), #6 University of New England (20-11, 6-4 TCCC), #7 Worcester State College (15-17, 4-2 MASCAC), and #8 Daniel Webster College (18-7, 7-0 NECC).
The Mustangs finished their 2010 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bid with an impressive 23-8 overall record going 8-5 in conference play. Mount Ida qualified for their fourth consecutive GNAC post-season tournament appearance hosting for the first time against visiting Emmanuel College losing 3-0 by scores of 25-21, 25-12, and 25-11.
Since becoming a full-time NCAA Division III member 11 seasons ago, the Mount Ida College women's volleyball program has qualified for three NCAA post-season tournament appearances three consecutive years in a row from 2004 thru 2006. They have never been selected to participate in the ECAC tournament, this will be their first ever trip. The semifinals and finals of the ECAC tournament will be played at the highest remaining seed after the opening round.
