Parisi (Women’s Basketball, Mount Ida) have been named Great
Northeast Athletic Conference Players of the Week.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Women’s Swimming - Ashley Arbo, Elms, So.,
Kensington, Conn.
Arbo set two school records by finishing the 100-yard freestyle in
1st place with a time of 58.36 and by placing 3rd in the 500-yard
freestyle with a time of 5:53.51. Arbo also added a victory in the
50-yard backstroke with a time of 30.22, and earned 21 points
overall against UMass-Dartmouth on Dec. 12. This is the second time
this season that Arbo has been named as a GNAC Player of the Week.
She was previously honored on Nov. 23. Arbo and the Blazers will
return to the pool on Jan. 9 when they host Mount St. Mary’s
(NY).
Men’s Basketball – Tyler Kelley, St.
Joseph’s (ME), Jr., Saco, ME.

Kelley’s shooting percentages of .608 from the field, .444
from beyond the three-point arc, and .875 from the free throw line,
as well as his impressive weekly averages, led the Monks to
victories over conference opponents Johnson & Wales, 74-70, on
Dec. 10 and Suffolk, 83-64, on Dec. 12. The junior guard netted 23
points and 9 boards against the Wildcats and scored 16 points,
including his 500th career point, against the Rams. Kelley
currently ranks 5th in the GNAC in three-point percentage (.459,
17-37), 6th in scoring (16.4 PPG), 7th in field goal percentage
(.542, 45-83) and 7th in three-pointers made (17). Kelley set a new
SJC single-season record for three-point percentage (.491, 54-110)
and his career rate (.455, 81-178) also ranks as the best in Monks
men’s basketball history. The Monks are currently in 1st
place in the GNAC with a conference record of 3-0 and an overall
record of 6-1. St. Joseph’s (ME) will next face off against
Farmingdale on Jan. 2.
Women’s Basketball – Cherie Parisi, Mount Ida,
Sr., South Attleboro, Mass.

Parisi notched her first double-double of the season against
UMass-Boston, scoring 13 points and adding 10 rebounds in a 52-41
victory on Dec. 8. The senior forward also tallied 17 points and 7
rebounds in a 94-60 non-conference loss to Western New England
College on Dec. 10. Parisi currently ranks 5th in the GNAC in
offensive rebounds (3.8 per game), 8th in scoring (13.9 PPG), 10th
in free throw percentage (.773), and 15th in rebounding (7.3 per
game). The Mustangs are currently in 6th place in the GNAC with an
overall record of 6-5. Following a 68-56 victory over Anna Maria on
Dec. 15, the Mustangs next game is Jan. 7 against Framingham
State.
