GNAC Players of the Week: December 1

Zach O’Brien (Men’s Basketball, St. Joseph’s (ME)) and Casey Shevlin (Women’s Basketball, Emmanuel) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Players of the Week.

Men’s Basketball – Zach O’Brien, St. Joseph’s (ME), So., Schenectady, N.Y.

Points (29/14.50 per game), Rebounds (13/6.50 per game), Assists (5/2.50 per game)

O’Brien scored a career-high 24 points and hauled down 8 rebounds to secure a 73-61 win for the Monk’s over Southern Maine on Nov. 29. St. Joseph’s (ME) stands atop the GNAC standings with a perfect 3-0 record. The Monks next face Husson on Dec. 1 and play their first conference game against Emerson on Dec. 5.

Women’s Basketball – Casey Shevlin, Emmanuel, Jr., Medford, N.Y.

Shevlin led the Saints to a huge non-conference win, 68-58, over Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 24. The junior point guard’s shooting was perfect, as she connected on all eight of her attempts, with three coming from long range and three from the free throw line. The Saints are currently in 1st place in the GNAC with an undefeated 4-0 record. Emmanuel has two games this week, playing Brandeis on Dec. 1 and Endicott on Dec. 5.
