Kacey Abbriano (Norwich), Mikaela McSherry (Simmons), and Kellie Pickel (Norwich) have earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors.

Abbriano scored 4 goals in Norwich’s 16-7 victory over Lasell on April 19. She also posted 3 goals in the Cadets’ GNAC Tournament semifinal victory over St. Joseph’s (ME), 12-10, on April 21. Abbriano added 3 more goals to her total to help Norwich defeat Emerson, 13-6, in the GNAC Tournament Championship game on April 24. Abbriano was named Tournament MVP for her efforts during the 2010 GNAC Lacrosse Tournament. Abbriano led Norwich this season in goals (45) and points (52). As of April 15, Abbriano is ranked 9th in the GNAC in goals per game (2.70) and shots per game (6.30). The 2010 GNAC Women’s Lacrosse Champions finished the regular season with a conference record of 7-1 and an overall record of 9-6. The Cadets next face Plymouth State on May 1. The GNAC champs earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament and will play in the first round on May 12.

McSherry added 4 groundballs, 4 draw controls, 3 caused turnovers, and an interception in one game this week. In their final game of the season, the Sharks defeated Pine Manor, 18-6, on April 21. McSherry is ranked 2nd on her team in assists (9) and groundballs (25), and is ranked 4th on her team in points (27) and goals (16). Simmons finished the regular season in 3-way tie for 4th place in the GNAC, with a conference record of 4-4 and an overall record of 6-6.

Pickel backstopped Norwich’s run to the 2010 GNAC Championship, posting victories over St. Joseph’s (ME), 12-10, in the semifinals on April 21 and Emerson, 13-6, in the championship game on April 24. Pickel made 13 saves against St. Joseph’s (ME) and stopped 4 shots in Norwich’s championship win over Emerson. Pickel was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the 2010 GNAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship. As of April 15, Pickel is ranked 1st in the GNAC in save percentage (.511), 4th in goals against average (10.73), and 7th in saves per game (69.00). The 2010 GNAC Women’s Lacrosse Champions finished the regular season with a conference record of 7-1 and an overall record of 9-6. The Cadets next face Plymouth State on May 1.
