GNAC Lacrosse Weekly Honors: March 22

Alyssa Marchant (St. Joseph’s (ME)), Ashley Slattery (Lasell), and Taylor Allison (St. Joseph’s (ME)) have earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors.

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

Alyssa Marchant, St. Joseph’s (ME), Jr., Wakefield, Mass.

Marchant scored 6 goals in each of the Monks 3 wins last week, including her 100th career marker in a 18-6 victory over Thomas College on March 18.  Marchant became the 1st St. Joseph’s (ME) Women’s Lacrosse player and 5th in the GNAC to reach the 100-goal milestone.  The 2009 All-GNAC First Team honoree scored 46 goals in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.  In her 29 career games, Marchant has been held without a goal in just 2 contests.  She also owns the program’s single-game records for points (12), goals (7), assists (7), caused turnovers (5), and man-up goals (2).  Marchant is the Monk’s career record holder in goals (110), goals per game (3.67), shots (217), shots on goal (180), caused turnovers (28), game-winning goals (6), and free-position goals (12).  Through 3 games this season, Marchant leads the Monks with 18 goals and 19 total points.  The Monks other victories came against U. Maine-Farmington, 15-7, on March 16 and Pine Manor, 17-3, on March 20.  The Monks are currently in a 3-way tie for 1st place in the conference, with a GNAC record of 1-0 and an overall record of 3-0.  St. Joseph’s (ME) next plays Husson on March 24 and Mount Ida on March 26.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

 

Ashley Slattery, Lasell, Fr., Weymouth, Mass.

Slattery scored five points at Anna Maria College, scoring 3 goals and dishing out 2 assists.  She also collected 7 ground balls, 6 draw controls, and caused 3 turnovers over the course of a 1-1 week for Lasell.  The Lasers defeated Anna Maria, 20-10, on March 16 and lost to Rhode Island College, 17-7, on March 18.  The Lasers are currently in a 3-way tie for 1st place in the conference, with a GNAC record of 1-0 and an overall record of 4-3.  Lasell’s next game is on March 25 against Simmons.

Taylor Allison, St. Joseph’s (ME), So., Pawtucket, R.I.

Allison enjoyed an outstanding opening week in goal for the Monks, as the sophomore netminder posted a 5.33 goals against average, with a .644 save percentage to help St. Joseph’s (ME) post a 3-0 record.  St. Joseph’s (ME) defeated U. Maine Farmington, 15-7 on March 16, Thomas College, 18-6, on March 18, and Pine Manor, 17-3, on March 20.  The Monks are currently in a 3-way tie for 1st place in the conference, with a GNAC record of 1-0 and an overall record of 3-0.  St. Joseph’s (ME) next plays Husson on March 24 and Mount Ida on March 26.
